Southville is south of the River Avon, which runs through the city. It's walkable from the centre via the harbourside. Its main thoroughfare, North Street, has an abundance of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Southville is an extremely popular area.
Southville has a vibrant community atmosphere. The Tobacco Factory Theatre is a hub and holds a Sunday farmers' market in a nearby carpark. Just south of Southville is the newly-built Ashton Gate Stadium, home of Bristol City Football Club.
It's ideal for families, but has something for everyone. The majority of housing is two and three-bedroom Victorian terraces, many tastefully refurbished with loft conversions. There are lots of flats of excellent quality and architect-designed new builds are available, too.
The city centre is walkable. There are also buses via Temple Meads and a train station at Bedminster. It's a popular area for cycling and has many cycle paths.
